AH Bellingham rainy days.. now we finally begin the winter season. my poor ramp though is getting ruined!
haven't posted in a while, there've just been a lot of life struggles going on.
feel free to spare yourself this description of woes:
found out the extra cutco job was crap before ever beginning. FINALLY got the landmark thing sorted out using half of this months phone minutes. got pulled over for expired tabs, and had let insurance lapse too (again!). talked the cop into a warning ticket. got insurance and registration the same day ($150 instead of $800). the clutch and brake pedals in the truck have been progressively breaking and flopping around since i bought it a few years ago, finally making it undrivable last week. paid a hundred bucks for the pedal-assembly, put it in with davey's help. but behind the pedal assembly between the brake master cylinder is an also broken brake-booster tied in to the vacuum system that we did not discover until put back together. REDO. just got back from shop for $310 that i had to use from this months rent money. GREAT. my vacuum broke today too.
my 500G external hard drive has crashed taking all of my footage, music (except for what's on my ipod), multi hundred gig movie collection and most sadly all those things i don't even know i've lost with it. it's a physical failure, can hear the drive spin erratically so the only real option is to (of course) buy a new one of greater size, and attempt a data recovery transfer project. BLEGH!!
got a second job at domino's to help cover this all, and try to stay up. far better than being mired in sadness. will start next wed "rush" if my truck keeps working.
since i can finally skate again, that has once more become my release for the stress and frustration. even though i'm an achy old man nowdays.
have been working my BUTT of learning proper flip tricks that POP, AND doing them all switch too. will make a quick vid of my progress soon! a little silly to be skating inside on the linoleum in a tiny space because it's raining, but still can practice proper technique.
so yeah... been a little overwhelming in ways with one thing after another and the steady overall feeling of always WANTING to MOVE forward with some bigger projects already. lots of sweet options waiting for someone to DO them. lol

the personal mental challenge encountered when engaged in open technical learning while overcoming the realities of fear, pain and failure, coupled with the unique physical state reached during extremely demanding focused effort and involved with blending all into "flow," have the power of complete removal from the usually understood "world," instead providing us insertion into a sort of impulsive all-or-none timeless "NOW moment" whose experience as a departure from "regular" daily life powerfully affects the psyche.

or something..
I love the rain, although I know your ramp doesn't. Sorry. When it rains, it pours, in all ways. I wish I was able to be there for you more...
ReplyDeleteI'm so scared of my harddrive crashing! I have a 1TB...and am considering getting a second to back-back up everything! I don't know if that's overdoing it at all or not! I wouldn't know where to begin with data recovery! Scary! I hope you get it all back!
Inside does seem kinda odd to be skating, but if you cant go out, then its better than nothing, especially if that is your release! I was super stressed today and took almost 100 pics of the kids playing outside! I instantly felt 50% better! ;-)
I know my words don't mean much, but remember that I'm thinking of you and am only a phone call away if you just want to vent.
Your end statement is something to think about...
Life is incredibly hard and mixed up and great too at times. Glad you have your "outlet" and are able to experience some letting go of the stress of it all. Sad to say Tiff's computer also crashed, lost everything, sent it in for new hard drive, one month before warantee ended luckily - but, lost all pic's, music downloads, etc. You are very talented with your ability to do so much with your computer. Hope you can save some of your important things.
ReplyDeleteAny way to also cover your ramps during the winter so they don't get ruined? Suppose lots of tarps would be expensive? Some practice on tech better than non I guess. Wish we could rent you a big warehouse to put all your ramps in! Maybe some one has one some where they aren't using??? lol.
Hang in there, you are amazing. Phone call away here too! We care.
