$2,000 Ashley Landmark LIE SCAM

as mentioned in previous posts, Landmark Property Management attempted to scam us for over $2,000 in unreasonable charges and repairs over a year after we moved out. ridiculous charges including $1,000 for completely replacing carpet that was NOT our responsibility and over $600 more in repainting the house!
OVER A YEAR AFTER WE MOVED OUT.
despite marking us cleared on the move-out checklist walk-through done together.
they would not respond for weeks post move out to our numerous calls and voice-mails in which we left our new contact information in order to sort out the return of our deposit we expected as the house was in better condition when leaving than upon move in.

BUT Ashley Henkins from Landmark appeared to acquiesce when i contacted her by phone. she "looked into it," then explicitly assured me it was a computer mistake from a "system changeover" that we would not be liable for because it had been "zeroed out" somehow.
i thanked her for her understanding and promised to spread word about how the situation was handled justly and professionally. as i began to do.

NOW THE $2,000 HAS BEEN SENT TO COLLECTIONS! and landmark suggests we work it out with the collections agency!! WHAT????!!!!!!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
THIS HAS TO BE ILLEGAL.

i'm absolutely floored at the BOLD FACED EXTREMELY PROFICIENT LYING that left me complacent. i failed to demand paperwork proving her reasonable ascertains. i was convinced that they had no basis backing the charges or the defunct timing and she convinced me that she agreed and had taken steps while i was on hold to remedy the situation.

so now unfortunately i believe one roommate, nate has already begun contacting lawyers and arbitrators to get a feel for our legal recourse. we're rounding up paperwork and video evidence. there is NO CHANCE we'll take this lying down quietly. if you consider the amount spent on advertising, this is going to be a costly $2,000 scam if indeed that's what is now happening.
i can only hope these are further "computer errors" caused by the "computer error" that generated outrageous charges now further wasting my time, energy and money.

thank you so much Landmark, and Bridget (the original "nice-cool seeming" "property manager") and Ashley the current "nice-cool seeming" "property manager."

Practice minutes... woops

so you might notice i wasn't able to contain my self to 1 min.. woops. what a joke! song was jammin so i even tossed in the last "bs 3 youtube cut" clips..

i've done this before, and removed it before anyone noticed. but decided to leave it, whatever already there, and then post a better "Practice Min 2" effort when i've chopped it down.

about a week ago i posted a rant about the $2,000 move-out bill we'd received from landmark over a year after we'd moved out, explaining the situation and arguing that they had no legal or even moral right to do this.
to my AMAZEMENT, upon calling this morning braced for a battle i was instead met with listening, understanding, some research and the charges were dropped!
WELL. my rant has become a rave of RELIEF.
thank you A*****(i don't want to give out personal info). you seemed to realize that landmark will most likely make more money by spreading a good reputation across whatcom than they ever could through shady tactics of charging good renters.
wanted to share this positive conclusion. and tell the people who sent support emails thank you as well! might not have felt like i had a legitimate argument without the reinforcement.
another quick note for would be renters out there - we did our walkthrus on video. i think this is an easy, powerful way to protect ourselves. consider the camera $2,000 could afford! not like i had it anyways

Landmark Scammers! (bellingham)
Date: 2009-09-04, 7:46PM PDT

Holy crap! I just got a letter today, postmarked this week, from Landmark Property Management regarding a tenancy we moved out of over a year ago claiming that we owe $2,000 dollars in move out costs! demanding payment within a week or threatening referral to collections.
This is outrageous for countless reasons! AHH!
To start, the house was filthy when we moved in and cleaned up when we left. We did our walk-through on video showing the sorry (standard yearly-rented beat down bellingham college house) state because we were taking over a broken lease from some losers who couldn't keep up on rent. I have this video. Then were told it looked good on move out, when asked specifically were told that we weren't responsible for normal wear and tear beyond the non-refundable $100 or so portion of the deposit. I'd even gotten a new Pet-Hair vacuum right before moving out which got all the carpets really clean, though of course not brand new again.
Someone has been living there for the past year.
NOW they are trying to charge me $1,000 over a YEAR later for replacing the old carpet that is completely their responsibility.
And fault realistically if they're saying it needs to be replaced because Landmark had neglected to repair a continually worsening hole in the roof over the living room, which ruined one of our xbox360s the first time it leaked through into the house and was noticed. Our loss i guess, we're chill people and called it an unfortunate accident that just sucks. We repeatedly called requesting the hole be repaired, water was getting into the insulation, walls and floor. This went on for over a month in rainy Bellingham until finally we called furiously telling them was a garbage bucket set in our living room that was filling with water and would get pictures. When they finally did "fix" it, they just left all the moldy rot inside, and slapped a new roof on top (i assume using the owners money) with a sunlight where the hole used to be. Super. For the next renters, owners, us, but especially for their profit.
NOW they're trying to take advantage of ME and screw me over for completely NEW carpet? The list goes on.. damn, i can't type it all.
I attempted to contact Landmark over a dozen times the first few weeks after we turned in keys and did our walk-thru in order to collect some of our deposit that i hoped might remain as we left the place in good shape. Was repeatedly calling, leaving phone numbers for myself and the two other roommates as well as new addresses we were all moving away to (which is the way they are NOW contacting me) asking for information. I could never get past leaving messages.
Life is busy, and i'd heard that there was a 90 (or 14) day policy requiring them to return the deposit. We all moved on and figured time had run out, whatever.
Now in hopes i've lost the paperwork (think i have it, not sure where though) and that they can completely screw over some college kids for $2,000 they're trying to do THIS?
THIS IS A SCAM and i resent it! Isn't there some sort of protection from this treachery for the normal guys?
I'm so furious with this, that house was the last thing on my mind or that i should be dealing with right now. It's been really hard to make it financially lately anyway. Landmark Property Management needs to lose more than they gain for these scams somehow.
Any useful suggestions?

splitting the difference

by posting these few vids i'm learning a lot. so i've decided to keep posting the "practice" type fun learning stuff on the blog with jams and whatnot, probably doin the practice min thing. then will be putting "better" stuff on youtube with slightly higher resolution and probably no jams (as WMG and youtube went RETARDED once they realized there was something good going on without their profiteering). "better" meaning only the few seconds of sweet moves that might have been happened to be filmed. not the whole drawn out daily story or any context really.
i think the story is more fun.
but for the "world" of youtube, prolly want to put better foot forward as there are plenty of loser retards out there.
HAH

computer crashed!

Yeah, so my computer crashed today....
CRAP.
it would boot, but the fan was maxing out and would start loadi-CRASH! so opened and blew it out with my wet-dry vac on reverse, then put a box fan blasting on it with the cover open. tried lots of things, kept booting and maxing out.. a reboot screen eventually came up warning that the CPU was overheating causing shut-down. went into task manager right after startup and got into a shutting-them-down battle with anything loading trying to keep the strain dow-CRASH!
GREAT.
turns out my computer has a weird 4pin P4 CPU fan. not to be found at Badbuy, or two small shops i went by after that wasted trip (couldn't reach anyone by phone).
CRAP.
turns out my computer has become half of my life! oh man. weird how things creep up on us like that. it's relevant to imagine if we weren't able to plug in to electricity, how utterly shell-shocked millions of people would suddenly be. massive effects. think there's a shouthpark about there being no internet LOL.
was referred to seattle or the internet, and told to buy some thermal glue if i find one that fits.
GREAT.
it was after 6pm friday evening when i grabbed the "action pages" and started desperately calling random computer places.
i'm typing this now.
because someone actually called me back! one of the local computer shop owners (Renaissance Computer Services) lived nearby and had a computer that's CPU had toasted in a power surge with the same fitting fan, and EVEN fancy for me RAM that fits mine!
DOUBLE GREAT.
i've now doubled up to 1G (with more RAM that even runs at a higher speed) and have a fan (with some thermal glue yep) that works. the old one was always "loud," turns out it wasn't securely connected so was going crazy to keep up. new one is sort of chirpy, but SO quiet compared to my old one.
and the RAM boost is SOOOO noticeable. one of my pet peeves with my computer was waiting for the volume control to come up. if a vid was super loud or quiet i'd be waiting, messing around and frustrated until i could adjust it while blasting my speakers out or straining to hear. and inevitably restart the video over. i'd gotten used to waiting a LONG time for stuff to work after double clicking while i was multi-tasking to make vids or whatever. a trial of patience (less than 30seconds haha).
back up and running now. better than ever.
oh YEAH.

practice minute 1 -- bs 360 ramp bank

so i decided to make "practice minute" clips for a while, less than two minutes counts! in order to keep learning editing stuff and practicing moves or whatnot without pressures of it supposed to being super awesome all the time.
the main goal is to 2 B interesting then.
at least for that min or so.
thought this would be funny 1st(3rdish) "practice minute" music using the "PINGO" jam "mashup" of two songs crammed into one, "jealous lovers/gossip." when i heard it kick in with vocals as i fell, then say "you can't stop crying!" after i'd suddenly rocked myself hard enough to get a headache was busting up. and then stuck with it. don't want to waste all the best songs for practicing that i might want to use later. ;) what do you guys think of all these crazy tracks? i carefully put music to accentuate flow!

each of the video clips are of multiple different attempts, except for the final lander with slow then repeated. i do lots of efforts skating, know i'm not actually very good. will be completely pouring sweat until exhausted.. then go back for more. kind of a die hard like that, have been as long as i can remember. all by yourself. pushing through a physical state of being, using mentality not found in "normal" life has a special appeal. skating adds the OCD technical part needed to keep at it. but it all comes down to HOW IT FEELS. to be alive. right now.
after doing practice minute clips maybe there will be enough for a "good parts of practice mins montage."
who knows, maybe one day even something good?

made a bank, tried a 3

we made this sweet bank ramp to gain speed in order to clear the gap between the two ramps. started landing some 360s off the side, until the camera came out...

ChurchOfManualMayday

this one'll need an explainer... i have such high expectations for my self all the time. one thing to notice is that left foot forward skating for me is the same as left handed things for you. i have lot's of stuff i know i can do so is "easy." everything's new at some point, so decided to really push my switch nose manual. worked at a fakie flip, bigspin, fullcab, frontshovit, or SOMETHING new out of the switch nose manual i can already do. but fail for hours, wearing my jangly old body down.
wanted to make a clip of the day vid (COD) that shows the passionate efforts put into skating. there WILL be lands to come.
but being out there getting lost in a multi-layered challenge (artistic, physical, mental, time/spacial etc) is one of the most engaging things in life. like a puzzle for your whole being.
the manual up and back while ender walks up, 180 out - move camera - nose manual around moseying ender, might be the best tricks i've ever done lol. while going around him i was balancing trying to decide if i should go for the 180 out, but REALLY wanted a MAKE more than another stupid tricky fall for the archives. Ender's an awesome skater, one of the best i know! even though he rarely steps hoof on board.. that doesn't matter.
check Johns fancy filming on the rolling shots! and overall music to vid flow as usual.
