rebuilder transition

wanted to show the transition from outside to new indoor setup but would like to eventually go back and make something with shots from every setup i've done since moving here. :)the ramp was fun while it lasted but barely skateable by the end. this is footage from the last day it was intact before we tore the masonite off, removed the middle flat, and with six of us barely hefted the pieces into the shed. behind the rubble i set up the micro ramp and skated it under cover for a couple months before really digging in on the huge 8'S Ramp project i'm now skating. don't think this is all i've got on it! just a midnight solo warmup flow to kinda show what it's like.

brakes

so we did fix the brakes, and replaced an annihilated rotor, new oil, and filter and i've been back rollin. oh yeah.
other than that in pointless news, i ruined my phone with morning dew, so traded two days work for an iphone! it's actually a frickin POS because of apples proprietary nonsense but hey, kinda fancy.
ender's ruling as usual. i woke up to squashy cuddles and face kisses, not a bad way to greet the morning.
he just did a new trick! was sitting here typing this and had him go grab my shoes from the other side of the room and bring them over, then his collar too! now we're geared up.

i got "lucky" today when i was running errands and stopped by davey's to drop off his ipod he'd left at my house. the brakes on my truck have been grinding for two weeks, but i haven't made the time to do something about it. as i was pulling into the driveway something CLICKED loudly and the right front tire seized up. CRAP! i couldn't see anything from the outside, but when i gently tried a little reversing something sheared OFF and fell out!
so now i'm at davey's with no brakes and probably not enough money to fix them.

i just resigned the lease for the house here in ferndale! have been here TWO years, going for a THIRD and can hardly believe it!
the owner wants to sell, so i may try to work out a lease option with a down payment/deposit at the end of this next year. we'll see ;)

R I P Murphy Roscoe Jenkins

my 12" Oscar fish MR J, Murphy Roscoe Jenkins, suddenly DIED today!!..

when i woke up this morning the first thing i noticed as i came down the stairs was an absence of the usual "CLACK"ing of MR J's tank heater against the glass, stirred up by his wriggling tail in excited anticipation for BREAKFAST PELLETS! even before going outside for frisbee with ender, fish feeding has been part of the daily routine around here. but this morning Murphy was really sick, his stomach was grotesquely BLOATED and he was hovering at the top of the tank looking BLACK around his face and back. was barely interested instead of his usual hype, absolutely, utterly miserable. if you've ever spent a day in the bathroom with food poisoning, or endured a heavy, major ailment you might be able to sympathize with the awful agony his body was obviously imposing.
3 days ago i went to petsmart and hooked him up with some feeder fish as i've done a bunch of times when his moral seems lagging and i just so happen to be near there. they swim all around and for a while he got to feel tuff hunting and ate them all as usual. but apparently this time was sadly his last.
freaked me out to see Murphy's stomach all swollen up when i saw it so called the fish place and they told me he probably got constipated or just gulped some air, give it a couple days, watch him..
but when i got home tonight he was floating on the top, unresponsive to knocking on the tank or the magnetic-cleaner brushing past nearby. no demeanor... and Nester Judkins (a feeder fish Murphy has kept around as a buddy, that's grown from a tiny half inch to 4") was darting all around frantically.
was difficult dredging my homie's heavy carcass out of the space i made for him and taking it outside..

Murphy enjoyed pellets, listening to our jams on the organ, feeder fish, judging epic PINGO battles from his tank, and general lurking.. we'll miss him :(

in order to avoid any confusion between tug-of-war or frisbee, every morning we go out in the yard, find two and trade off. ender LOVES this arrangement, as he never has to give the frib up unless he's getting another one he'd now prefer (or i make him for manners training). i try to throw out where he can get them, he bolts for a 1hop, scoop or catch with some incredible leaps or crashes here and there! ender counts on this routine, a great frisbee sesh in the morning and he's much more relaxed and happy for the rest of the day. thought it might be interesting to make a clip by combining different angles into one, these were all catches. with only a vague idea to start, this is the result. or for a better view: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwkUXWJo7BY

nollie nose manual 360 shuvit out, at church of mannyended up havin a full day of skating today! went to "church of manny" for warmups, were going to leave but john filmed this first. later one of john's neighbors came charging down the alley on his board, stuck in some gravel and body slammed on his way to invite us to check out their little 1/4 pipe they were setting up. having practiced on the ramps at home made that fun and easy :p johns roommate Ean doesn't have our experience, but pieced together a board and is pickin it up which rocks! we took the grind box to the streets and destroyed it (with our moves). dropped that off and went on a WWU skatethru run. it's straight up some steep hills on a 1way st (hiking the steeps on foot), then up across campus cruising on bricks which is super fun. shred all over what the campus has to offer on our way to some ledges where we post up and work on stuff. finally high speed charge back! gaping, swooping, then risking powerslides down the road home.

just found out Phil Verd died.
we became great friends while in baker oregon during the most volitile times i've lived. literally didn't think i'd make it through, but found an out with you in laughter and antics and a friendship. can remember the silly fun of going on 40 energy-drink runs across sheets of ice, the legendary freestyle walking mayhem, laughing our asses off enduring the taser, reviving hacky sack and creating sweatbands while rocking jams, smoking out the hallway with the fire extinguisher to stir things up, the hilarious ridiculous art, on and on like it was last month not four years ago. you helped me find joy again in my days when i'd convinced myself i'd lost that. thank you, i'll always remember. i bailed after i went to visit and your mentality was still cycling down, didn't know what to do with it. it's a jolt to think you still had a foot in that life of hurt and never made it out. when i randomly went to look you up again you are gone.
i'm so sorry Phil, hope you've found peace at last man.

skating ferndale yesterday

solo skating day around ferndale. finally did the loading ledge gap! at the ferndale ledge spot we'd always eye the gap but the bank up is mellow and the flat is far. yesterday i decided to go for it. wasn't sure if i could even get my body to clear it at first. was running full speed before dropping my board and PUSHING as fast as possible, getting my self and board over. then really focused in, and made it! good thing too because on the one where everything came together a guy in a truck was driving up to investigate what i was doing. i didn't even see him until i was already starting to ollie, already had the speed and balance right and knew i could make it. if i'd kicked out things would have gone differently. would have hit the truck, or gotten my board run over and i'm sure he'd have wanted me to leave. instead of seeing me mach-ing right at him, launching the whole thing and landing triumphantly in control darting past. WOOP!
also a couple little tired switch hardflips and some 5050 and front board action. the round rail is actually harder than a skinnier one because there's nowhere for wheels to hook on and get good purchase to balance. floaty.

Kira Cheerin

last week i got a call from Davey, who asked a "favor." Kira was doing a cheer to jonas brothers "burning up" at the high school basketball game halftime and he was wondering if i could come along, bring the camera and make a little vid with music for her like i've been doing with skating. OF COURSE!so i showed up recording away and we had a blast. i tried to be a conscientious filmer, think i got some cool shots. :)
it took a few hours for the first edit, had all the clips perfectly set up, went to produce and FAIL!! the program crashed! NOOOO! the first time thru it's fresh and fun, 3 hrs of Jonas brothers later trying to start all over wasn't working out. SAVE YOUR PROGRESS PEOPLE! im sure you already knew. came home and listened to J-Bro's for another 5 hours or so because i knew Kira was excited and wanted to have this for her. in the end it seemed like i listened to this one song for 10hrs in one day. LOL
did some creative editing to get clips to fall into place with lyrics and the song just right. couldn't resist the OOOOH BAABAY! outro.
and i have to apologize for the super low video quality here, on my computer it looks terrible. will post a better resolution version on youtube.

it took me six months to work out hardflips. started on carpet and in a tiny space, worked up to moving and then took it to a little drop. i think too much and know all about what i'm doing with my tricks to get them to form, so was thinking (haha) about making some "trick tips" that are actually useful for some i feel qualified on. probably not a fair comparison but using the same feel from Regular, i've gotten my Switch Hardflips going in a couples weeks! if i can teach my self both ways it seems more valid. here are switch and regular with a spider i found lurking under the rampsadly this spider was too scary to live where ramp moving fingers might get bitten. i really do wish i'd had the courage to understand and move her somewhere better for both of us. :(

so yeah what's new? kicked out again.. have been back since. :pand have to say here that as usual, Ender is the MAN. he knows about and LOVES going skating, gets ultra hyped and runs along with us for cruises, usually listens even though he'd REALLY like to meet nice people, very importantly "WATCH OUT" is completely understood and he even knows the flow as you can see when he dodges between. sometimes a little too amped maybe, like when he went full speed over the curb and tumbling head over heels just like the guys do LOL!

removed external hard drive

my external hard drive failed with all my music, videos, footage and who knows what else on it a while ago.
after failing every software fix i could find, i decided to pull it from its case and hook up directly to the motherboard
turns out it's an older IDE style drive that can slave onto the CD/DVD-drive ribbon using some spare parts taken from an old crap computerthe dvd drive is unaffected. the 500g hard drive powers and spins up but i'm STILL unable to detect it in the BIOS.. :( maybe there's a setting i haven't found yet, maybe it's toast.

attempting hardflips but getting nonethe music is fittingly funny i thought. first time ever trying these off a drop. gave it a big effort but didn't land ANY. learning a lot by seeing my self, it's practice seeing what's good and bad without actually doing it..
